The Little Rock school board reupped Superintendent Jermall Wright ’s contract, explored investing in a campaign to better market the district and considered joining a lawsuit against social media companies at Thursday’s meeting.
The board voted 8-1 to extend Wright’s contract through 2028. Director Vicki Hatter , a longtime detractor of Wright, was the only no vote.
Board members discussed a proposed community engagement and marketing effort to confront steadily declining enrollment, shrinking revenues and intensifying competition from private schools, charter schools and homeschooling.
