ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - In an interview with KALB on August 15, Senator Bill Cassidy said he is eager to keep his senate seat as the 2026 midterm elections take shape.

On August 1 , Senator Cassidy formally announced re-election plans to potentially extend his time in congress.

In 2026, Louisiana voters will decide who represents the Pelican State in the United States Senate.

Those voters will have at least four republicans vying for the a spot on the final ballot.

That includes State Senator Blake Miguez, Public Service Commissioner Eric Skrmetta, and State Treasurer John Fleming.

For Senator Cassidy, there’s more work to do for Louisianans.
