LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - When it comes to Husker Football, the Nebraska Athletics department takes practice very seriously.
Recently, the department made a $6.2 million investment to improve the team’s practice field - hoping to keep players safer as the season goes on.
“There was an old beat-up turf field outside, there was a bad grass field outside, and like that costs money to fix. You should see our grass field right now. It looks like Augusta out there,” Head Coach Matt Rhule said.
It wasn’t easy coming up with what type of grass to use.
They needed one that’ll grow in heat and stay durable throughout a grueling season.
