On Friday night, the Seattle Storm and Atlanta Dream will face off in the first regular-season WNBA matchup outside of the United States. This historic international contest will feature some of the sport's biggest names - including Dream center Brittney Griner.
Griner was asked about the importance of this international clash during pregame media availability on Friday.
"I had a lot of high hopes that we would be here. It took countless hours and time put in by everybody – players, from our organizations to the league – on trying to build this up and be able to be here," Griner said. "... Like I said, I'm just grateful and so happy that I'm here and [get to] be a part of this. This is something that we always wanted, but we're actually seeing it happen now."
