DES MOINES, Iowa — A Marshalltown woman, Amanda Nicole Manatt, has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for misusing controlled substances and falsifying patient records. Court documents revealed that Manatt, 37, worked as a registered nurse at Unity Point Marshalltown Hospital in 2023, where she diverted drugs like fentanyl and morphine for personal use. She falsely recorded these substances as administered to patients. Prosecutors say after her employment ended in December 2023, Manatt continued similar actions at Mary Greely Medical Center until April 2024. Patients sometimes experienced pain due to Manatt's actions, and her false records led to improper billing of health care programs.
