ATLANTA — Loved ones of the DeKalb County Police officer killed in the line of duty last week are in the process of planning his funeral arrangements.

Officer David Rose was gunned down during the shooting near the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Aug. 8. The attack triggered a shelter in place at the nearby Emory University campus off Clifton Road and CDC Parkway. CDC officials said the gunman opened fire on several of its buildings.

While no civilians were hurt, Rose died from his injuries in the shooting.

11Alive has learned from family that his funeral will take place on Friday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. It will take place at First Baptist Church Atlanta at 4400 North Peachtree Rd.
