BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The insurance game is all about risk, according to Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple. How much a company pays out in claims, or its losses, directly impacts how much your bill goes up or down by the time you renew.
In 2024, insurers cited lower losses, driven by a decrease in the number of accidents on the road. Now, since the start of the year, 20 auto insurance companies have filed a rate decrease with LDI. Some of those companies include Geico, State Farm, Progressive, and Allstate.
For policyholders, Temple said to absorb this information with caution, noting the fact that these decreases are an average of the insurer’s rates across Louisiana.
