AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Amarillo City Council said they are making progress on next year's budget following a fourth budget workshop on Friday.
The workshop focused on clearing up misunderstandings between council members and city staff, particularly regarding a proposed street maintenance fee. The fee will not be implemented this year.
Councilmember Tim Reid said the decision reflects what taxpayers expect.
“When they write that check in January, they’re expecting that certain things are done. Their water is running, their waste is being removed, streets are being taken care of,” Reid said.
