LANSING, (Mich.) WLNS — A large Lansing homeless encampment near Dietrich Park has been allowed to stay for now, but with a few conditions.
Last month, the city sued 2 businesses for allowing people to stay on their property, but on Wednesday, a judge ruled the encampment can remain if some changes are made.
Within seven days, the two businesses, 113 West Michigan LLC of Jackson and JAJ Property LLC of West Bloomfield, are ordered to provide portable toilets with at least one of them being ADA-compliant, as well as providing weekly cleanings when needed.
Last Sunday, the people staying in the encampment and housing advocates worked side-by-side, removing the trash in hopes of helping with the lawsuit.
