CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — UVA Health doctors are using new technology to help amputees recover faster and with less pain.

Kevin McNerney, 67, spent decades dealing with chronic foot problems, daily wound care and multiple surgeries. After deciding to amputate his leg, surgeons implanted a small nerve stimulator designed to speed healing and block phantom limb pain.
