Pura Vida still grounded on Hatteras National Seashore

Vessel’s owner, faces felony charges and a Sept. 5 Carteret County court date

The Pura Vida, the 32-foot sailboat that grounded on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore (CHNS) on July 21, remains on the beach with no timetable yet for removing it, according to CHNS Public Affairs Specialist Mike Barber. He adds, however, that the CHNS “will go through a contracting process to get the vessel removed from the beach.”

The vessel grounded approximately one mile south of off-road vehicle ramp 38 at about 4 a.m. on that date, according to the CHNS.
