Even with the excitement surrounding a presidential visit to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Anchorage students started the new school year without issue.
District officials told Your Alaska Link Friday morning that all schools opened smoothly, including those on or near the base.
On Friday, students in grades 7, 8, and 10 through 12 kicked off classes for the 2025-2026 school year.
The last group of students, preschool and kindergarten, are set to return on Thursday, August 21.
