PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - More than four years after a deadly shooting in northeast Portland, a suspect has been arrested and the victim’s family feels like they are one step closer to justice.
Friday’s arraignment of Daundre Willis was something William Kendrick’s friends and family had been waiting for, for years. But, facing the man accused of shooting and killing their friend, brother or son wasn’t easy to prepare for.
“This was something that we were told was going to be a couple years down the road, then we got a call yesterday that this was happening,” said Amanda, a long-time friend of William Kendrick, on Friday outside the courtroom.
The accused shooter, Daundre Willis, had to face a full courtroom Friday, including hearing from William Kendrick’s sister-in-law.
