NEW YORK (PIX11) – A New York City public school student and the student's mother have been taken by ICE and sent to Texas, according to multiple reports.

The student is believed to have attended a school in Queens.

The nonprofit news outlet The City reported that a 7-year-old student and the student’s mother were detained by U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement and transported to a family detention center in Texas, according to the publication.

Local officials took to social media to seemingly confirm the narrative.
