DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – A group of kids in De Pere has turned lemonade into hope, raising more than $20,000 in just two days for local families and children battling cancer.
The annual Lemon Market fundraiser shattered last year’s total and set a new record. Organizers say the inspiration behind the event is Ava’s sister, who is now cancer-free.
“It just feels so good. People from all walks of life just want to help other people. It’s just so amazing,” says Ava winters, the co-founder of the Lemon Market.
The money raised will benefit the Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and provide direct support to two families currently facing childhood cancer.
