REESEVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) - A local ten-year-old is inspiring people all around the world by choosing to keep fighting — even after losing both of her legs to cancer.
Like most fifth graders, Charley Gauf loves to color, spend time with her family and cuddle with her pets. But behind her smile, she has been fighting a battle with cancer for two years.
“In August of 2023, we found out she had osteosarcoma in her left knee,” Charley’s mother, Mariah Gauf, said. “She went on a 29-week course of treatment which involved her getting her left leg amputated in November.”
After ringing the “cancer free” bell in April, the rare form of bone cancer came back in Charley’s right leg this summer.
