After a five-year hiatus, an absolutely-quackers fundraiser is returning to Crescent Beach next month.

Ducktona 5000 – a rubber-duck affair benefiting Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 5 (RCM-SAR5) – is billed as a fun, family-friendly community event that aims to raise funds in support of those who watch over the waters off White Rock, Crescent Beach and the Georgia Strait.

Organizers say they are getting their ducks in a row to host it for the third time on Sept. 6, when thousands of rubber ducks will race – as best as rubber ducks can race, that is – a sheltered course on a quest to 'quack' the finish line first and score a $1,000 prize.

Members of the public are encouraged to turn out on race day to watch and cheer on the duck-testant
