RUSK COUNTY, Texas — For the first time, Leverett's Chapel ISD receive a score of 100 for financial rating from the Texas Education Agency. That means they know how to manage some money and make every dollar count.
"We try to be transparent as possible with the public's money, and I think this is an indication of that," Superintendent Matthew Everett said.
The state’s financial ratings measure how well districts handle taxpayer dollars. Everett said sticking to state guidelines, following the rules and staying transparent have been key to their success.
"I know for school districts at this point, it's been a struggle, but we've done a really good job handling our money, and that, again, (is) just a testament to the good people that we have here," Everett said.
