NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas — A family pet was killed in a house fire in Nacogdoches County Friday night.

Multiple fire departments responded to the blaze on County Road 991 around 7:30 p.m. No one was at home when the fire happened, but a family pet died from smoke inhalation, according to the Lilbert-Looneyville Volunteer Fire Department.

Crews pumped over 30,000 gallons of water onto the fire before it was put out. The fire was caused by an electrical malfunction at the breaker box inside the home, officials said.
