CORAL GABLES — The Hurricanes’ wide receiver spots are wide open after all of Miami’s top receivers left for the NFL or via the transfer portal.
Halfway through preseason camp, the competition for starting roles is “a really tight battle,” UM coach Mario Cristobal said Thursday.
“It’s a tight battle for the right reasons,” Cristobal said. “It’s because guys are doing the right things and are playing hard and are playing at a high level. They’ve welcomed competition. They brought it into the room (and) fully understand that it’s needed.”
With veterans like Xavier Restrepo and Jacolby George gone, the Hurricanes are looking at a mix of veteran transfers and young, inexperienced receivers to fill the void.
