BEAUREGARD PARISH, La. (KPLC) - Another round of scams is making its way through Southwest Louisiana.
This time, scammers are impersonating local law enforcement, claiming to have a warrant for your arrest.
Chief Deputy Jared Morton with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office is one of the people in law enforcement being impersonated.
“Our office is never gonna pressure or encourage anybody to send any money by phone to avoid those situations over the phone. It’s always gonna be an in-person contact,” Morton said.
The scam is also happening right now in other parishes like Vermilion. Either way, experts say that’s just not how law enforcement operates.
“If it was that bad, they’re going to come get you. They’re not going to call you on the phone and say, ‘Hey, come pay a fine,’ especi
