ARCHULETA COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Oak Fire tore through acres of land in Archuleta County this week, destroying nearly everything on one property except the home itself.

Jonathan Alford said to FOX31 he was in Pagosa Springs when the flames swept across his land, leveling four outbuildings and destroying tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of carpentry tools and equipment he relies on for work.

“I jumped on a four-wheeler to get eyes on it… trees fully engulfed. I saw my house — which did my heart good — but the shop was an inferno,” Alford said.

One small relief came later that evening, when his cat, which had run off during the fire, returned home safely. • Aftermath of the Oak Fire showing damaged property. (Courtesy: Jonathan Alford) • Aftermath of the Oak Fire showing damage
