Two State Liners honored

Patrick Gillen and Charlie Atkinson of the Johnson City-based Bristol State Liners earned spots on the All-Appalachian League team.

Gillen, a first baseman from UNC-Asheville, slashed .403/.477/.581 with 13 doubles, two home runs and 36 RBIs in 35 games for the State Liners.

Atkinson, a relief pitcher who has transferred to Baylor after beginning his collegiate career at Dallas Baptist, was 1-0 with a league-leading seven saves and 0.50 ERA in 13 outings for Bristol.

The State Liners played their home games at TVA Credit Union Ballpark in Johnson City this past summer as ongoing stadium issues have prevented them from playing in the city they represent since 2023.
