The Detroit Tigers scored five runs in the first inning, and Charlie Morton overcame some early misfires to pitch six scoreless frames in a 7-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on Friday night at Target Field.

The Tigers (72-52) have won three straight and five of their last six. They play the Twins (57-65) two more times this weekend.

Detroit opened with four singles, a double, and a walk against Twins starter Pierson Ohl, then added two more runs in the third. Dillon Dingler drove in three runs, while Javier Báez collected two hits and two RBIs. Because the Tigers piled on with two outs, an error accounted for four unearned runs.
