Syracuse, N.Y. -- A man was shot in the leg late Friday night on Syracuse’s South Side.
Police heard shots fired around 10:23 p.m. on West Newell Street, according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches.
Around 20 minutes later at 10:45 p.m., Syracuse police found a man with a gunshot wound to his right leg at 191 West Corning Avenue, dispatchers said. That is one street over from Newell Street.
Police tied a tourniquet around the man’s leg while they waited for an ambulance, according to dispatches.
Blood, paper towels and pieces of clothing could be seen on West Corning Avenue where the man was found by police.
An ambulance then took the man to Upstate University Hospital.
