GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — New video shows a Sumner County inmate assaulting a correctional officer in 2023.
Prosecutors said the officer is still on light duty because of his injuries, and this week, a jury found the inmate guilty.
The fight started during a laundry haul when jailers were trying to change sheets and blankets, according to prosecutors.
Kevin Baker, in jail for assault at the time, wasn't happy.
"He got into what the officers testified to was a fighting stance," Sumner County Assistant District Attorney Parker Sewell said. "He was putting his hands up. He didn't want to be detained or hand over his blanket."
Jailer Owen Harrington ran in to help.
"When they were finally getting Kevin Baker to the ground, he kicked backwards and struck Officer Harrington in the left knee
