WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) - The Rancho Fire is 10% contained, according to a National Interagency Fire Center update on Friday, Aug. 15.
The blaze has charred through 1,483 acres along a ridge line off Chuckwagon Road in the Rancho Haven in Washoe County.
It was started by a person grinding metal about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, according to Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue.
Forward progress has been stopped.
The fire caused evacuations at 5 p.m. on Thursday, which have since been lifted.
As of Friday afternoon, the fire is not threatening any structures, according to Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue.
