COLUMBUS, Ohio — The NCAA finally delivered Michigan football’s punishment for its sign-stealing scandal on Friday.

If you sift through the penalties , you’ll see fines, suspensions, show-cause orders and recruiting restrictions.

You won’t find vacated wins or a postseason ban, which you likely wanted to see if you’re an Ohio State fan — or just a non-Michigan fan.

Norman Bay, a public member of the NCAA Committee on Infractions and chief hearing officer for the Michigan situation, spoke with reporters Friday to explain why.

Regarding vacated wins, he explained how “ineligible competition” is required for that punishment to be considered.

“That was not a factor present in this case,” Bay said.
