TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) - The Tuscaloosa Police Department says violent crime and property crime are down compared to this time last year. Homicides in the city are down 38.5%, and robberies and car jackings are down 32.5%.
"When I was reviewing these crime stats, knowing I’m in charge of the department, it makes you very proud that your officers are working that hard," said Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley. "To see the change that we’ve made over the last five years, our technology advancements, some of our strategic ways that we approach policing, it’s just a really good feeling.”
