ATWELL — Firefighters know that their jobs entail a certain level of risk, but burning buildings and medical emergency calls don’t usually involve dodging bullets too.
Over the weekend, Captain Henry Alexander “Alex” Parham, 28, of the Atwell Fire Department was recognized for his bravery during an incident that occurred last August during an otherwise routine medical call, when Parham and others responded to reports of an unresponsive man in his vehicle on the side of Hwy. 152 near Shinn Farm Road.
“When we got there, he was slumped over the driver’s seat,” Parham said.
