TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Many nonprofit organizations across East Texas are in a balancing act between helping as many people as they can and doing it with fewer resources.
United Way of Smith County held its nonprofit summit for longtime organizations and those just starting out.
Abby Floyd works for PAVE East Texas, a nonprofit dedicated to helping adults receive education.
Floyd says about half of their funding comes from the federal level. She says they haven’t been able to make budget this year and are relying on individual donors.
“It’s been scary. Just going out in the community reminding everyone what we do, how we do it and showing really the impact that we make in the community,” said Floyd.
