Concerned citizens of Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights may want to take a look at Lake Erie, a natural body of water with north, west and east views that extend to their horizons.
That’s a “lake.”
Now, shift perspective to Lower Shaker Lake. That is, unarguably, an “abandoned mill pond.”
Calling this small, silt-bottomed, unnatural pool of water a “lake” was most likely a Van Sweringen real estate marketing ploy.
Maybe it’s time to restore this troubled scar on Doan Brook to something as close to its natural state as practically feasible for future generations.
