The Dodgers (69-53) defeated the Padres 3-2 Friday night at Dodger Stadium to snap their four-game skid and retake first place in the NL West.

Clayton Kershaw was solid again, only allowing one run over six innings. Teoscar Hernández’s insurance run was key on a night when the top of the Dodgers order didn’t do anything at the plate. Kershaw made his 48th career start against the Padres, and looked to build on his last start when he nabbed the win over fellow future Hall-of-Famer Max Scherzer. Kershaw struck out two including Luis Arraez and Manny Machado for a 1-2-3 first inning.
