The union representing more than 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants says its members have walked off the job after it was unable to reach an eleventh hour deal with the airline.

Air Canada says all flights will be cancelled amid the work stoppage.

The company has previously asked Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu to intervene by ordering the parties to enter a binding arbitration process, however it’s unclear if Ottawa will do so.

Air Canada cancelled more than 600 flights over the past two days in preparation for a potential work stoppage.

It says affected passengers will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to change their travel plans without a fee.
