Suspicion, failure to secure dangerous ordnance: Orange Place
A patrol officer conducting a business check at Courtyard Marriott around 1:30 a.m. July 5 noticed no registration on an unoccupied blue, four-door BMW in the parking lot.
She then found the car unlocked with a loaded Glock 19 in plain view in the rear driver’s side door. Dispatchers ran the vehicle identification number (VIN) and reported its registration to a Cincinnati owner had expired June 6.
A check with the hotel front desk showed the car’s owner was not a registered guest. The officer removed the 15-round magazine, rendering the 9mm semi-automatic Luger-style pistol safe. For follow-up, she also left a village business card inside the car.
