U.S. President Donald Trump set the bar low for the high-stakes meeting with his Russian counterpart in Alaska — and it became apparent why late Friday as things wrapped up with little more than a commitment to meet again.

Trump had the chance to prove to the world he is the master dealmaker and global peacemaker he claims to be — but he couldn't deliver, at least not yet.
