Police Scotland’s Special Constables were out and about assisting in a busy East Lothian last weekend.

The Special Constabulary is a team of dedicated volunteers who serve alongside regular police officers.

They have the same powers as a police officer – and help protect the community all in their spare time.

After multiple reports were received regarding off road bikes being driven in a dangerous manner in the Gullane beach/bents area, the Specials were deployed.

They attended and located one male with his off-road bike, the bike was seized, and the male received a £300 fine and 6 penalty points.

A police spokesperson said: “We would encourage you to continue to report these types of incidents so we can identify and apprehend these offenders.
