How do we see numbers? With blind eyes or through the eyes of those being hurt?

As the anniversaries of Hiroshima and Nagasaki passed, I looked at the overwhelming numbers.

On Aug. 6, 1945, the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. On Aug. 9, a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. According to The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons , an estimated 140,000 people were killed in Hiroshima and 74,000 in Nagasaki. It is estimated that of those killed, 38,000 were children. Do the numbers move us toward nuclear disarmament? Do we know anyone who lost a relative?
