GREENWICH, Conn. — A construction worker has died after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 95 North in Greenwich early Saturday morning, according to Connecticut State Police.
The highway has since reopened after it was closed throughout the morning as state police investigated the crash.
State police said troopers were called to I-95 North near Exit 3 just before 2:30 a.m. for a report of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
A preliminary investigation determined that a construction worker was working within a construction zone; the left lane was closed for the road work. A Dodge Durango veered into the construction pattern and hit the worker in the center median, according to state police.
The worker, identified as Traymont Tucker, 38, of Waterbury, died from his injuries.
