WASHINGTON — FBI agents with covered faces backed up D.C. police officers during a routine traffic stop along the U Street Corridor just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning, part of an unprecedented federal law enforcement presence now patrolling the District's streets alongside National Guard troops.
The scene — a half-dozen FBI agents supporting Metropolitan Police Department officers — illustrates the far-reaching impact of President Donald Trump's order deploying federal agencies including the FBI, DEA and others to patrol Washington's neighborhoods.
