BRAINERD — Crow Wing County commissioners recognized Lori Thompson , social worker, who was retiring after 25 years of service at the Tuesday, Aug. 12, board meeting.

Thompson was honored for her dedication, compassion, resourcefulness and the heart she put into her work at every level as a problem-solver. She was recognized as someone with an unwavering dedication to improving lives, who often went the extra mile in providing service. Thompson received a standing ovation in the board room.

In 2016, she was appointed to the Minnesota Board of Social Work. She has also served the community with pop-up pantry work and in participating in the Alzheimer’s Walk outside of work, where she also enjoys hunting, car shows, gardening, traveling and spending time with family.
