A Texas man was arrested Thursday after he was accused of sexually extorting an adult and child in Bergen County, investigators said.
Detectives determined that an online stranger, identified Friday as Quristafer D. Land, of Dallas, contacted them through Snapchat and instructed them to record and send photos and videos of themselves engaged in sexual acts over the last few months, according to a statement from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
The office identified the scheme as sextortion which is the practice of extorting money or sexual favors from someone by threatening to reveal evidence of their sexual activity.
Land allegedly used the likeness of another person to create several online accounts used to facilitate the sexual extortion activity, the prosecutor’s office said.
