RICHLAND COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) -- The driver of a dump truck was killed Friday afternoon during a three-vehicle crash in Richland County.

According to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, an 81-year-old man in a Chrysler minivan was driving east on State Route 96 in Franklin Township when he attempted to turn left onto State Route 13.

The minivan was hit on the passenger side by a Kenworth T-800 dump truck that was going north on State Route 13.

Following the collision, the dump truck hit a guardrail then overturned, partially ejecting the driver who died at the scene, according to troopers.

A third vehicle caught in the crash only sustained minor damage and the driver was not hurt.

The driver of the minivan was hospitalized.
