CHARLESTON, W.Va. — At the request of the Trump administration, Gov. Patrick Morrisey has directed the West Virginia National Guard (WVNG) to support President Donald Trump’s initiative to restore cleanliness and safety to Washington, D.C.

Under the leadership of West Virginia Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Jim Seward, the WVNG will deploy between 300 and 400 personnel, along with mission-essential equipment and specialized training, to the nation’s capital. The operation will be fully funded at the federal level and is part of the Guard’s longstanding commitment to regional cooperation in the National Capital Region.
