SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The first major hurricane strengthens in the Atlantic, but you would never know it here on the Suncoast. From eastern Florida northward, rip currents and dangerous ocean swells will be common. But not for us.
Slightly drier air over the Suncoast Saturday means isolated thunderstorms for the day. Sunday brings more moisture over us with a higher chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Then drier air pushes over much of Florida for the week ahead, which will drop the thunderstorm coverage during the week.
Humidity is high Saturday with dew points hitting 77° or higher. Heat Advisories cover much of Florida with the combination of heat and humidity. Actual high temps will hold in the low 90s for several days. Feels Like temps will climb 10 109°.
