General Motors Company put its 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Max Range Work Truck to the test last week and broke a distance record for a single charge in the process.

The test was conducted over one week on public roads near GM’s Milford Proving Ground and Belle Isle in Michigan, with 40 GM engineers volunteering to drive the vehicle.

According to General Motors , the truck made history by going 1,059.2 miles, or 1,704.6 kilometres, on a full charge.

The previous record of 749 miles, or 1,205.4 kilometres, was held by Lucid Motors.

Test conducted under optimized conditions

Months of preparation went in to the experiment to see how far the work truck model could go under “optimized” conditions, according the company.
