Wetherspoon boss sacked after giving colleague halloumi fries discount
A former shift leader at a JD Wetherspoon pub has triumphed in an employment tribunal after being sacked for granting a colleague a 50% food discount. Peter Castagna-Davies was given the boot from his position at the Pontlottyn in Abertillery despite a spotless 22-year record.
Mr Castagna-Davies had rung up two portions of halloumi fries, two portions of chicken breast bites, and two cans of Monster energy drink for kitchen worker Noah Gardiner, applying the half-price discount meant for shift staff.
An internal probe concluded he had flouted the rules by letting Mr Gardiner purchase "excessive products" at the discounted rate and take the grub home.
