It’s cliché, but will someone please work on the milk carton? The Cubs offense remains missing since at least the All-Star break. With it, another game gets away and the season continues to slowly slip away. When Kyle Tucker stopped being a destructive force at the plate, the Cubs offense fizzled and the team became ordinary. All of this has been said before. It’s hard to find new ways to say it or ways to talk about it.
I certainly understand the frustration with Ryan Brasier. He worked hard to get healthy this year and had a decent run to start his Cub career, but he’s gotten lit up pretty good of late. He’s been the weak link in the Cubs pen for a little while now. Perhaps in a one-run game, there should be other options. But isn’t every inning these days a close inning in a close game
