SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

A fantastic weekend is setting up in Northern California with mainly sunny skies, a Delta breeze, and cooler temperatures. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 80s in the Valley, low to mid 80s in the Foothills, and mid and upper 70s in the Sierra. There is a slight chance for showers today in the Northern Sierra in Redding, Shasta, and Lassen.

While there are no warnings or advisories regarding the winds, gusts 20 to 30 mph are possible and that does increase the fire danger.

Temperatures will remain at or below normal through Tuesday, then a major warm up begins with triple digit temperatures expected in the Valley on Thursday and Friday.
