GREENVILLE, Miss. (WLBT) - A young girl is being praised by the Greenville Fire Department for her quick thinking in saving her grandparents’ home.

On Friday, Greenville firefighters were dispatched to a residential house fire.

The occupants were out of the house before the units were dispatched.

When they arrived, units reported that there was a single-story brick frame structure with light smoke showing.

After an investigation, firefighters found that the fire was extinguished by 8-year-old De’Meria Thomas.

Thomas stated that her little brother rushed to her about a fire, and she went into action using the P.A.S.S. method that was taught to her with a fire extinguisher.
